When you are passing through Jl. M.H Thamrin, Jakarta, you will definitely see Sarinah Building. This building located near Bundaran HI has some interesting facts. Check this out!
1. The building is named after Soekarno’s nanny when he was a kid. Yup, that’s right! That’s why Soekarno named this building Sarinah as an honor for his nanny.
2. During that era, Sarinah was built with money from the war plunder of the Japanese Government.

3. This is the first skyscraper building in Jakarta 74 meters high and 15 floors.
4. Sarinah is also the first mall and department store built in Jakarta, as well as in Indonesia. Initially, the purpose of President Soekarno's building Sarinah was to promote Indonesian trade and industry by selling all domestic products in this department store. Soekarno wanted to see the progress of Indonesia’s economic side and developed it.
5. On August 17th, 1962, PT. Sarinah PERSERO was built. But the Sarinah itself was officially opened on August 15th 1966.
